CEGEP OPEN HOUSES, 2008-2009
Each CEGEP holds yearly open houses to allow students and parents to come and see their facilities. It is a good time to ask questions, check out specific programs, and even see how long it takes to get there. I feel strongly that each student should visit any CEGEP that interests him or her. Following are the dates. Please note that the winter sessions are more properly called Information Evenings and are more focussed on grade 11 students with questions.
VANIER CEGEP, in Ville St. Laurent, has the standard Pre-university programs, but also offers some unique technology programs, such as Animal Health and and Popular Music. Vanier is within walking distance of the Du College and the Cote Vertu Metro stations.

MARIANOPOLIS CEGEP is a private downtown CEGEP that has high standards and a small student population. They offer only pre-university courses.

JOHN ABBOTT CEGEP is in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, at the end of the 211 bus line. John Abbott offers all the pre-university programs, but also has some unique three-year technology programs, such as the Police Technology program. For a complete list of technology programs, click here.

DAWSON CEGEP is downtown, at the corner of Atwater and Sherbrooke, and is directly connected to the Atwater Metro station. They offer most pre-university programs, but also have several unique Technology programs, such as Illustration and Design and Social Aide. For a complete list, click here.
A Student for a Day program is available to senior students. To sign up for the Student for a Day program, call Elaine Roy 931-8731, extension 1179.

GERALD GODIN CEGEP, is the West Island's only public French CEGEP.

CHAMPLAIN CEGEP (St. Lambert) is a smaller college on the South Shore, within easy walking distance of the Longueuil Metro. They have the standard pre-university programs, along with a smattering of Technologies. For the list, click here. They also offer an International Baccalaureate program.

CHAMPLAIN CEGEP (Lennoxville) is a college located near Sherbrooke, Quebec. It shares the Bishop's University campus in Lennoxville. Because of the location, students generally live on campus.

CENTENNIAL ACADEMY COLLEGE (private),is a private CEGEP that offers small classes and a lot of support and structure. There is a considerable cost, however.
