WHICH MONTREAL CEGEPS CAN LAKESIDE STUDENTS APPLY TO?

The Montreal CEGEPs are in several groups.

I. PUBLIC CEGEPS

l. THE SRAM SYSTEM:   JOHN ABBOTT COLLEGE, VANIER CEGEP,
CHAMPLAIN LENNOXVILLE, OR 30+ FRENCH CEGEP's

A student may only choose one of these CEGEPs. If rejected, there is a second and third opportunity to either fix the bad marks, or choose a program more suited to the student’s marks. A student rejected on Round 1 may apply to the same program again (the Easter report card had better be improved!), choose another program more suited to the student’s marks, or choose a different college within the SRAM system. Starting in the Fall of 2007, all students will be required to apply on-line. There will no longer be paper applications!

Round 2, which the student will only be in if rejected in Round I, happens around April 20.

Round 3 is at the end of May, and there is an unofficial forth round (if the CEGEP is not full) after the provincial marks arrive in July. At this time the student should deal directly with the CEGEP admissions Office.

ANY STUDENT REJECTED IN ROUND ONE SHOULD IMMEDIATELY MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE MR. CORBETT.

To register, you must go to: https://sram.omnivox.ca/svad/default.aspx?C=SRM&E=P&L=ANG&Ref=20061024011611
The deadline to apply ifor the Fall session is March 1, but since the second term schools marks must be available, I suggest applying in early February.

To try the SRAM registration simulation, go to:  https://sram-demo.omnivox.ca/svad/default.aspx?C=SRD&E=P&L=ANG&Ref=20061024011816

The school board will forward your grade 11 marks electronically.
The Ministry will forward your provincial marks electronically.
SRAM can access your birth certificate electronically.
You may pay on-line with Direct Access, Mastercard, or Visa.
While I have not yet seen the 2009 application details, the cost in 2008 was $30.00.

Confidential reports, teacher assessments, letters from a student promising to go to summer school, etc., should probably be sent directly to the CEGEP admissions office. Each grade 11 student will be issued a CEGEP booklet in January that has all the appropriate addresses and telephone numbers.

2.  MONTREAL COMMON APPLICATION SYSTEM:
                               DAWSON, MARIANOPOLIS, CHAMPLAIN (St. Lambert)

n.b. One application covers two college choices/programs. A student can list eg. Dawson Science and Dawson Social Science, or Marianopolis Commerce and Champlain Commer.  NB. Most CEGEP reps this year recommended that students choose two programs within one CEGEP..

Under the co-operative application system of these colleges, the student is responsible for sending (2008 list)
     - application form and certified cheque or money order
     - student reference card
     - address labels (provided)
     - a copy of your "Dossier Partial" or Provincial Marks
     - a copy of your Secondary 5 second term report
     - a copy of your birth certificate

n.b. Confidential or personal data that you wish to send may be put on the Activities sheet provided by the school, or a separate letter may be included.

Champlain will allow students to complete part of the registration on-line, but you will still be required to mail in the above information. Dawson and Marianopolis have not yet officially announced that they are switching to an on-line system. I will update this data as I receive new information.

Since Marianopolis is a private CEGEP, there is an added cost, but if finances are a concern, the college has financial aid programs. For more information, please contact Marianopolis directly or check out the site listed below.

II. PRIVATE CEGEPS that have their own application systems.

CENTENNIAL COLLEGE: This is an expensive private CEGEP that offers very small classes and a lot of individual support. I recommend it for weak or unorganized students who will not be able to handle the freedom of a large public CEGEP.    http://college.centennial.qc.ca/

LASALLE COLLEGE: This is a private college that specializes in several three year career programs. Their speciality is in the area of Hotel management, Fashion Design, etc. For a more complete listing, go to http://www.clasalle.qc.ca/en/home.html

OSULLIVAN COLLEGE: This is a private college that specializes in several three year career programs, such as Paralegal and Medical Secretary For a more complete listing, go to .www.osullivan.edu/en/admission/index.html
