For grades 7, 8 and 9
(Secondary 1, 2, 3) there is a summer school in English, French and
Math. This is essentially a 40 hour review of a 150 hour course.
Generally a student with under 45% is not allowed to go. Depending on
the school and the individual situation, the student may repeat the
course. From 46% to 59%, the student may be required to go if he/she
does not wish to repeat the course. From 60% to 65%, a student may be
encouraged to attend so he/she can experience success the following
year, but attendence is optional.
In grade 10 (Secondary 4) there is summer school in English and French.
In grade 11 and in the following courses in grade 10 (Physical Science,
Canadian History and Math), there are generally
provincial exams, and, instead of summer school, a failing student is
given
the option of re-writing a Supplemental exam in August, which will
count for 100%!
While attendence is not compulsory, the board does arange an intensive
one week review for students who wish to write an August supplemental
exam. (See SUMMER SCHOOL BROCHURE below for the tutorial list and
the registration dates.)
The various documents for registration are attached.
