CROSSING OVER
Lakeside was
delighted to host groups of grade 6 students
from both Maple Grove Elementary and Dorval
Elementary schools recently.
The morning of activities was designed to give
the students a taste of high school life and
help with the transition to larger surroundings.
The kids took part in activities in music, art,
science and physical education, all of which
were animated by current Lakeside students.
Lakeside’s growing music reputation was
certainly enhanced as Madame Blondin got each
group to perform a rock piece in only 40
minutes. Mr. Peterdy took the students through
an enjoyable range of small sided games and
activities highlighting the range of options on
offer from the gym department. Mr Cote, Mrs
Reyes and Mr. Preston led the students on a
bridge building business activity involving
basic mechanics, advertising and accounting –
and some very impressive structures were
produced in only an hour.
Our visitors certainly seemed to enjoy the
experience, our grade 10 and 11 animators learnt
a lot and Lakeside learnt what a great set of
additions could soon be joining our school
community.
