Guidance - Graduation Requirements

To graduate from High School with a Diplôme d’études secondaires (DES), also known as the Secondary School Diploma (SSD), students must have: *    

• Minimum of 54 credits earned in Secondary 4 and 5
• 20 of 54 credits must be earned from successfully completing Secondary 5 subjects

IN ADDITION: students must OBTAIN A PASSING GRADE in the following COMPULSARY SUBJECTS:

• Secondary 5  English (6 credits)
• Secondary 5  French (4/6 credits) 
• Secondary 5 Physical  Education or Ethics & Religious Culture (2 credits)  
• Secondary 4 Math (4/6 credits)
• Secondary 4    Science Technical  or Applied Science & Technical  (4/6 credits) 
• Secondary 4    History & Citizenship Education  (4 credits) 
• Secondary 4     Arts Option (Music, Drama or Visual Art) (2 credits)  

* According to the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement Supérieur (MEES)

Each Secondary 4 student will receive a summary from MEES outlining the number of credits they earned and if applicable list the compulsory Secondary 4 subjects the student has failed.
